Allowing Your Backup Agent to Set Enterprise Vault Backup Modes

09/25/09 | by Brian Fitzhugh [mail] | Categories: Storage, Tips and Tricks, Technology, Windows

One of the interesting things about Enterprise Vault is that it allows you to configure it so that there is no risk of email being fully archived without it being backed up first. For that process to be completed though, your backup agent has to be able to run the powershell scripts necessary to set the Enterprise Vault backup modes. In my case (with CA Arcserve) we needed to configure a local admin account and assign that account as the "Log On" account for the backup agent service. Once that is done, you can follow the steps outlined in "Event ID 7082 and 7046 are generated when placing Enterprise Vault into Backup Mode and taken out of Backup Mode"
